During a trip to Japan, I wandered around Tokyo delighted by the way the vertical street signs were stacked one on top of the other, as they advertised places of business. A visit to the Robot Restaurant and my visceral reaction to the lights and mythological characters in the show solidified my determination to find a way to represent this colourful extravaganza in my art.   I turned to plexiglass. The idea sat with me for over a year until I felt I had grasped the mechanics of how to turn the band-sawn sheets of plexiglass into wearable art.   Marrying the organics of silver as symbolizing nature completes my experience of the juxtaposition of serenity and wildly colourful extravagance in Japan.
